NEW CATERER

Now I must bring two big bags everyday. It’s been one week exactly. One is for my notebook and official stuff. The other is for my friends’ lunch and mine. What’s up?

I am a kind of courier for my colleague. They asked me to “cater” their lunch when they learnt that my lunch box has been a culinary miracle for them. I don’t cook my own lunch. I bring my lunch cooked by Ibu Prayogo. She is a neighbour nextdoor of mine, a widow with three children. Her cooking is excellent and the most importantly free of MSG. Once Sapto, our culinary prodigy, admitted that the “ayam goreng bumbu Cirebon” was great, the whole pack agreed to make me their lunch caterer.

I am not really a caterer since I only pack their lunch in a backpack, “ship” them to office everyday without taking any IDR or USD from them. All money goes to ibu Prayogo. Honestly, I have got a bowl of vegetables soup for bonus; she knows well I love it the best.

Frankly it is an additional load but I am happy to find that my colleagues eat healthier food – no MSG. I am also thinking of offering the many kinds of juices made by Tiwi, Ibu Prayogo’s daughter, but I am not sure. I am not sure that I can bring another bag. I can’t imagine that I will have to bring a work bag on the left shoulder, lunch on my back then another totebag at my right hand.

All this time Ibu Prayogo has been a successful chef of the following recipes (in Indonesian):

1. Ayam goreng bumbu Cirebon
2. Ayam pop
3. Ayam bumbu Bali
4. Ikan bawal bakar bumbu santan
5. Sambel mentah
6. Sambel terasi
7. Tahu putih goreng setengah matang

I want to show you my additional activities now:

At 6:30am I load the lunch wrapped traditionally using banana leaves inside and paper as the outer wrap. Then, together we un-load the lunch at lunch break. After that we discuss the next day’s menu to be sms-ed to Ibu Prayogo. My colleagues agreed to not order more than two kinds of food only so that it is easier for our excellent cook to cover her job.
