Excitement

Long road to travel
Seeing trees walking swiftly
River flowing, too--

Chinese New Year is coming soon. It is the most celebrated day in Singapore aside from National Day so many people will take a leave to celebbrate it with family, friends or to find getaway overseas. Many companies give extra days off to employees so they can take longer break in the year. My company is not exception. And so I take this opportunity to visit my 1st home country, Indonesia!

I will be in Jakarta for a few days to meet with some good friends and to check my little home that was now hostless since my good friend moved out after her marriage with a foreigner who brought her out. Another good friend is now monitoring my home once a week to check if stray cats need some food, plants need some trimming and sure the house itself need some fixing and security measure. Thank you, dear friends. 💕

From Jakarta I will continue to Yogyakarta, my home will be for retirement (damn…. my colleagues and friends keep teasing me “like you will retire soon, work, work, save money then retire at 60”. 😁

My original plan is taking train from Gambir Train Station to Yogyakarta Train Station. But then another good friend, a Jakartan, offered a ride. “Rike, I will drive from Jakarta to Jogja. Want a ride?”

Voila!

It’s gonna be my first land trip after years from Jakarta to Jogja; years ago when my brother was still working in Jakarta, he and his family gave me a ride from Jakarta to East Java until we all preferred train that was less tiring.

The offer “want a ride” was brilliant that the answer was yes with no second thought. It became even more brilliant that I wouldn’t have to drive (not a good driver I am)! Whoa! Excitement rose!

I trust this friend who has been in many land trip both car and bike around the archipelago both alone and in group. A super traveler indeed!

Friends in the whatsapp group cheered us up. Excitement rose higher!

See you, Jakarta! Then Yogyakarta!

Safe and safe!

can’t wait 😍 Jakarta to Yogyakarta with Mbak Adek 🙏🏼

We Are The Champions (Queen)

There's a time, my dear
You cherish with sweet breathing.
Winning against self--

i used to be very harsh to myself until 2019 when two doctors made me realise that taking care of my body is as important as taking care of my spirit and mental

i started expressing myself more freely and genuinely, less drama, no excuse to stop me from being calm and confident, accepting me the way me is, unlearning old knowledge, learning new knowledge, opening my heart to all possible layers of truth and beauty

now i believe i am one of this world champions seeing how well i coped with my own self until i can feel so comfortable again back to my me

…. now i won’t let those playing around with me for their own fun in to my life as my life is not only a span of fun free time yet it is a span of fun dedicating time

thank you all for being you even with just a brief existence here now in this short journey

💕

Happy Chinese New Year

New year, Beloved,
Leaf falling celebrated
By the wind then gone;
Only memories will stay
In the soul of those alive.

——————————————————

You can start the year on any day and call it a new year. You can use lunar or solar or any other possible cycle in the galaxy or even beyond the galaxy as you wish.

The only thing you need is making sure your start is well used.

I thank everyday for the second chance, the new day everyday, the new year everyday.

Happy Chinese New Year!

Many New Years – ranting

All people have their New Years, different way of counting the days. Same number, different start. Javanese have Javanese Year. Muslim have Islamic Year, Hinduism have Hinduism Year. Buddhist have Buddhism Year. Inca-Mayan have their own year that ended with their “aborted” doomsday in 2012. And others do – all of which might be based either on Lunar or Solar calendar – in fact, with the same basis not a few are of different cycles.

It is Chinese New Year today and representing PIG. Year of pig

What does it symbolise? I thought it is a symbol of eat a lot, fat, lazy and slowness of move. But I am wrong, PIG is the symbol of prosperity in Chinese culture. Does it mean this year all of us are gonna be rich? I don’t believe that because if you don’t work or you are not lucky, you won’t have a lot of property and prosperity.

Gosh, the symbol doesn’t work at least for me…. I am still fat and eating a lot, not prosperous yet. Maybe this year? 🙂

Happy Chinese New Year!

Silent Chinese New Year – 2015

I’ve got a long weekend for Chinese New Year will fall on Friday and Saturday. And, ’ve got an even longer weekend since my company grant us two more days off on Monday and Tuesday so that Chinese colleagues can enjoy more time with their family. Six days! Thanks, Tim!   🙂

Just going back to Jakarta last week to enjoy the Kenduri Cinta in Taman Ismail Marizuki so I decided not to go home to Indonesia this time with some reasons: expensive ticket, short period of holiday (inconsistent with my earlier statement that this weekend is long even very long weekend), time to contemplate….

Expensive ticket is a kind of trend. In holiday season many Singaporeans fly out. The bigger the demand, the higher the price. So be it. It might not be a problem because we can buy economy seat or use frequent flyer points to get a ticket but it won’t worth the time enjoyed…. It is a long weekend indeed but my home is not around Jakarta anymore and so it takes longer travel time. Now I like going back to my mom’s home where family reside including those cats that – I believe – miss me so much 🙂

So, long weekend short…. And I want it to be a silent year start – Chinese year….

Need a stationary time. Noble silence. No work, no chat, no talk, just me. Won’t call it “me time” because it is not for me, it is for…. I don’t know whom it is for – I just wanna do it. 🙂

Noble silence and creative contemplation will be the proper terminology. Will be enjoying the long weekend in this city country. Known already it’s gonna be short in feeling….

Equipped with a sketch book, a box of color pencils, photography tools and an EZ-link card I’ll wander around this island…. And, see what I can generate at the end.

Assalamu’alaikum….
