Morning is welcomed
By a tray of whatever
Turning to a best.
โ

Swinging steps to gates.
Washing hands and mouth. Flying.
Whispering. Amen.
โ

Morning is about
Chirping birds, calm sea, soft breeze
Greeting these senses.
โ

Drag me to your heart
Even if it hurts my head,
Said I.
I know youโre teasing
Even when I mean it,
Said I.
I smile in silence
Letting you laugh in joy.
Sad Iโm.
Enjoy it.
Enjoy your days,
Said I.
I walk away
Leaving the last piece of my heart.
Dragging my luggage
Alone.
Smiling.
Winning
Against my own sigh.
To you, who secretly teasing again and again and again and again. Thank you. Life is full of fun. ๐
โ

Small thing is cherry
On a big cake, red and brave
Savouring the day.
โ

How can you travel
Without any gloom and stress?
Take a window seatโ
โ

Youโre winning my heart
When my goalโs the same as yours.
After days of lossโ

FIFA 2022 has brought controversial practices and surprises from the beginning. I donโt have further comments on those political, yet I am so happy with Saudi Arabia and Japan winning against Argentina and Germany. What a victory!
I wish they win again and again and those big names lose more to balance the celebration. It is just a game yet sometimes a game should be won by those who have been underdog. I am not discriminative. ๐
Twitter too has been so much more crowded with the euphoric tweets about FIFA 2022. Exciting, hilarious, entertaining, some envious, abusive, violent though. Yet how much ever I want to click a like to soooo many โsweetโ tweets, I remember my promise of not doing so for some time now. Playing in Twitter is a bit scary, buzzers and scammers are freely working, sending me irresponsible messages; better play safe and observe only. Or probably just my algorithmโ ๐
FIFA! Itโs been annual celebration for football lovers, refresher for bored routine dwellers. We, โour father, siblings, cousins and Iโ would watch the games through national TV station together even over midnight to indirectly cheer our favourite teams. In Indonesia โnobar = nonton barengโ aka watching together (at home, community centers, cafes) is very common to enjoy sports games, badminton and football in particular โ many people will do wide screen with noises and costumes of real supporters as if watching onsite. Our favourite teams were Netherlands, Brazil and England so we would be the noisiest when watching them. Not Indonesia? Of course, not! We love our national team but they are not yet ready to go beyond the country borders especially with the current funny management. Someday, someday! ๐
In Malaysia now, yet none of the people met was eager to talk about FIFA so we just talked about annual holiday at lunch break while enjoying Kapitanโs biryani and tandoori chicken. Unfortunatelyโฆ. Or fortunately so I fully focus on work ๐ค
โll be in Japan next week and love to see how euphoric Japanese are about this victory. Hopefully they will show more relaxed look and behaviour this time with the excitement. So excited! ๐คฉ
Salaam.

A guest, Beloved,
Makes host happy yet confused.
Smile sweet and thank, too.
โ
Iโve met hosts with different types of personality or characteristics. When the host is a person, itโs just about that particular person. When the host is a company, it shows me the company culture or local culture.
Iโve got a few โcuteโ treatment from some hosts.
One company in Koka was informed that Iโm a Muslim. My colleague told them โRike eats halal, please find the food source from now.โ They didnโt clarify to me and just followed that pranking colleague blindly. And in my 3-day visit they fed me halal food they ordered online and had to be delivered long trip to that remote area.
โIs it good, Rike-san?โ The host asked me on the last day.
โDo you expect honest or polite answer?โ said I laughing.
โBe honest please ha haโฆโ
โI tried NN-sanโs food from your canteen. I love your food much much better. This online food tasted good but didnโt taste fresh.โ It was impolite like hell for most Japanese host I guess. ๐
โOur canteen food is not halal. Iโm sorry about the online food.โ He must have wanted to commit suicide after that. ๐
Then I started preaching what halal meant to me. And they said they would not order the halal food for me anymore and give me their canteen food the following years. ๐

โ
The second was one company knowing Iโm a Muslim as informed by the branch in Malaysia. So they knew I pray although they never knew I only pray when wanting to.
So they brought me to a small room to do afternoon prayer. I asked if they have Muslim employees so they had the room, they said it was prepared for me. They moved out table, chairs and other cultural ornaments. ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ
The first day I prayed, the other days they asked if I would pray. I said no. Then again I preached what type of Muslim I was and they nodded heads looking confusedโ they might think how would a human being can be this obedient yet disobedient to her God.

โ
The third is also about being a Muslim. I came with 6 other people for 2 days and the company gave me fruit salad while giving nice beef/chicken/pork, egg, vegetable, rice lunch to others. They said they only had salad as halal food and no restaurant near the industrial area cooks halal and non halal food separately.
My colleagues explained that I could eat this and that but โnot pork onlyโ. So the next day they provided my favourite Vietnam spring roll with โvegetable and porkโ not โpork onlyโ. I left the lunch box untouched and went back to the yummy salad. Iโll come back next year, please give me pho. ๐

โ
Some people are so naive not knowing what to do and deciding to do their bestest best to respect the guests. God bless them.
I enjoy being a (not so good) Muslim. Misunderstood but still well treated by those willing to respect others. God bless you! ๐
Salaamโฆ.

Daruma city
Youโve witnessed left eyes were drawn.
Wish me the right ones.

A group of people in Takasaki wished me a happy birthday in an online meeting. A real surprise that made my day! I almost cried of happiness! ๐ฅบ
This evening one of them went back to Tokyo and she sent me messages with photos taken in Takasaki station. Another sweet surprise!

Looking forward to a set of daruma dolls of different colours I ordered from Amazon (because of cancelled plan to buy them in its original city). Not a real surprise but hope the dolls give me a little shade of surprise! ๐คฉ
Salaam.

Peaceful, Beloved,
Sitting remembering you
In this sweet silenceโ

Sometimes just donโt get it why Japanese is like that but now accepting it as it is a culture with which a nation is built and shaped based on nature and history; like a Korean being a Korean, a Javanese being a Javanese, an English being an English, a Vietnamese being a Vietnamese, etc. As long as it doesnโt disturb loyalty and integrity, itโs ok. ๐ฅฐ

Who is your best friend? MacBook, iPad or iPhone? Internet it is!
I can’t deny my % of interaction with outside of my body recently is through machines activated by Internet. Hope 2021 will bring the “real life” back to normal: when I do the job normally meeting people kindly at the same time evaluating honestly, when I can travel to home country to meet good friends and to favourite countries to absorb good energy, when I can smile to others without waving hand because of wearing face mask, when eating out is not limited except by the operation hours not by physical distancing, when things are natural.
‘m still happy though as Life has given so big a gift every now and then. I have family who love me and friends who accompany me in high and low. I work in a company that takes care of me very very well. All with the Beloved’s bless and love
So, I am still ok to be MacBooks, iPad and iPhone’s best friend for the next some months.
May all beings be happy.

I would have been to Japan at least 5 times up to this month this year if Mr and Mrs Corona hadnโt come.
Upset? Slightly. Why? Coz I planned to go eating in some restaurants whose food has been shown by one of my YouTube subscribes, and all the plans have to be postponed.
Hey! It doesnโt matter, there is still next year. And in my life the next year is always better than previous ย year.
See you, Japanese food! Serve me your best! Our rendezvous is gonna be amazing!
Been drooling watching the Deli Baliโs videos ๐ฅฐ
Staying home longer
Is such a bless. Sheโs happy.
Thanks, trip postponement.
Singapore – March 11, 2020 / 7:50am
โ
My March will be with less packing and unpacking. Two trips to Japan have been postponed until situation is well settled. It means a lot to me: walking more, cooking more, going to gym more, meet-up more, sketching more, reading more, all is more except eating – no eating more!
Sometimes othersโ hell can be someone elseโs heaven. Iโm not happy with the COVID-19 but honestly it has blessed me with awareness of self health and more time to stay home. ๐ฅฐ
I pray that the situation will be well settled soon.
May all beings be happy….
I’ve been learning how to write haiku, and now tanka. The link below to learn in simple way.
===
The Japanese tanka is a thirty-one-syllable poem, traditionally written in a single unbroken line. A form of waka, Japanese song or verse, tanka translates as โshort song,” and is better known in its five-line, 5/7/5/7/7 syllable count form.
One of the oldest Japanese forms, tanka originated in the seventh century, and quickly became the preferred verse form not only in the Japanese Imperial Court, where nobles competed in tanka contests, but for women and men engaged in courtship. Tankaโs economy and suitability for emotional expression made it ideal for intimate communication; lovers would often, after an evening spent together (often clandestinely), dash off a tanka to give to the other the next morning as a gift of gratitude.
In many ways, the tanka resembles the sonnet, certainly in terms of treatment of subject. Like the sonnet, the tanka employs a turn, known as a pivotal image, which marks the transition from the examination of an image to the examination of the personal response. This turn is located within the third line, connecting the kami-no-ku, or upper poem, with the shimo-no-ku, or lower poem.
Many of the great tanka poets were women, among them Lady Akazone Emon, Yosano Akiko, and Lady Murasaki Shikibu, who wrote The Tale of Genji, a foundational Japanese prose text that includes over 400 tanka. English-language writers have not taken to the tanka form in the same way they have the haiku, but there are several notable exceptions, including Amy Lowell, Kenneth Rexroth, Sam Hamill, Cid Corman, and Carolyn Kizer.
There are many excellent anthologies of Japanese verse, most of which feature lengthy selections of tanka. Rexrothโs translations, which include One Hundred Poems from the Japanese and One Hundred More Poems from the Japanese, are considered classics, and The Ink Dark Moon: Love Poems by Ono no Komachi & Izumi Shikibu, translated by Jane Hirshfield with Mariko Aratani, continues this tradition.
Temples are scattered around Kyoto, Japan. I visited three of them…. Many remaining to visit in my next trip to Kyoto.

And summer flowers are just decorating Kyoto street…. Sweetly greeting me.
